Between roughly 1898 and the mid-1950s, the world's music was captured in recordings that have gone largely unheard since — Cairo's court orchestras, Welsh chapel choirs, Parisian tangos, Carpathian shepherds. Most were never reissued.
We remaster historical recordings from public archives and other out-of-copyright sources, and publish the results so they can be heard again. Sources and rights are credited per recording.
What's here so far
The collection currently spans 41 musical traditions and 1151 restored recordings. The catalog grows as new recordings are restored and published, so the site you're reading today is a snapshot of work in progress.
Every restored track is released under the Time Traveler's United Restoration Project, credited to the channel's owner.
Why it matters
These recordings are primary documents — not just music. They capture languages under pressure, regional styles that no longer exist, performance practice from before the microphone changed singing, and the first global wave of recorded sound. Restoring them is an act of preservation, one record at a time.
